RENEWABLE ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE
There are several ways to promote the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency, including: Government policies and incentives; Education and awareness; Financial mechanisms; Public-Private Partnerships; Innovative projects. The development of new materials and technologies that make renewable energy systems more efficient and economical, as well as the development of smart grids and energy storage systems that improve the reliability and stability of systems aimed at mitigating their emissions and, thus, contribute to combating climate risks. Climate change depends on the predictability of the supply of ores such as zinc, copper, tin, niobium, rare earths, lithium, cobalt, among others. Where would Brazil be in this context?

MINING FOR ENERGY TRANSITION: LANDING THE OPPORTUNITY FOR LATIN AMERICA
The energy transition to a low-carbon global economy requires significant amounts of a series of minerals and therefore represents an important opportunity for Latin America, where many of these minerals are abundant, such as copper, lithium, iron ore, silver, bauxite, manganese, zinc, rare earths, graphite, among many others. The challenge is to extract and produce these strategic minerals responsibly, promoting investments with high environmental and social standards, while seeking to occupy more space in their value chains, producing goods and services with higher added value. This panel will address the opportunities that this context offers for Latin America and what is the role of the private sector in promoting new and robust mining in a coordinated manner with other actors in society to leverage sustainable development from the activity.
